Memorial Gardens and Cremation Remains

Wendy,

Two years ago at covenant Woods CCRC, our Residents' Council worked directly with management to create what we call- The Garth at Irby Garden. The space is close to the main building and accessible to all residents and family. The Garth is managed by CW Chaplain. The space is beautifully landscaped, including a water fountain; "a cloistered garden of tranquility and beauty used for quiet reflection and meditation".

In the state of NH, one's cremated remains can be scattered on private property. We are a new CCRC, just over 2 years old, and are beginning to look at developing a Memorial Garden. One of the suggestions is to include an area where residents remains may be scattered. Does anyone have any experience with having a spot for cremated remains on their CCRC campus?

Thanks - Wendy Sutton, President , The Baldwin Residents' Assoc. Londonderry, NH
